Jessica Serber, M.A., LMFT (112155)

My name is Jessica Serber and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as well as the founder of Mindful CBT California. I specialize in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and other related anxiety disorders using evidence-based therapies. I believe that our mental health is at the center of our wellbeing and am passionate about supporting individuals working toward relief from anxiety disorders or a generally improved quality of life. Personally and professionally, I have witnessed the challenges that OCD and anxiety can bring as well as the unbelievable growth and peace brought forth with specialized care.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Upon graduating, I worked one-on-one with adolescents facing a range of obstacles, including learning and developmental disabilities, low socioeconomic status, and challenges in their families and communities, as they transitioned from high school into the entry-level work world. I was so struck by their resilience, authenticity, and success, which propelled me into the field of psychology. I went on to earn a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. During and since this time, I have worked in a variety of settings and been trained by top professionals in the field, providing me with a diverse and robust range of experience. I completed my traineeship at Pepperdine’s Community Counseling Center in Encino, CA working with individuals, trauma survivors, and in school settings. I then completed my internship training at Paradigm Malibu, a residential treatment center for adolescents and at OCD Specialists. At OCD Specialists, I received outstanding training and supervision in the treatment of OCD and related disorders utilizing Exposure and Response Prevention.

Ali Nelson, M.A., AMFT (138948)

My name is Alexandra (Ali) Nelson and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. My focus is on providing effective therapy for individuals with OCD, anxiety, and related disorders. I am also passionate about working with grieving individuals or those who have contended with loss, whether in the past or recently. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, prioritizing their mental health and wellbeing every step of the way.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tufts University and studied abroad at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. Upon graduating, I spent two years working for the New York City Public Advocates Office before moving back to my hometown of Los Angeles following my mom’s diagnosis and battle with a rare sarcoma cancer. Once back in Los Angeles, I founded the Wendy Walk, a national charity organization focused on raising funds and awareness for sarcoma cancers. Over the course of 10+ years, our organization has supported patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. During this time, I volunteered and led a support group for adolescents and young adults at the Our House Grief Support Center in West Los Angeles and completed the Center’s formal training seminar on facilitating grief support groups. This experience of working with and supporting individuals throughout their most difficult challenges led me to Pepperdine University where I earned a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy. For the past three years my training has continued in the fields of anxiety, depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and childhood trauma through my work as a therapist at Community Psychological Services in Encino, California.
